About SuDSlab

SuDSlab is an innovative project led by the Energy & Environment Institute at the University of Hull. The project focuses on the development, implementation, and monitoring of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) to enhance urban environments and manage water runoff effectively.

Our Mission

SuDSlab aims to transform how urban landscapes handle water by integrating nature-based solutions into drainage systems. By using green infrastructure, SuDSlab mitigates flooding, improves water quality, and enhances biodiversity, all while creating attractive public spaces.

Key Activities

  • Designing and implementing pilot SuDS sites in urban areas.
  • Monitoring the performance of SuDS in managing stormwater runoff and improving water quality.
  • Collaborating with local communities, policymakers, and stakeholders to raise awareness about the benefits of SuDS.
  • Conducting research to innovate and optimize SuDS technologies for broader application.

Impact

SuDSlab's work is contributing significantly to urban resilience by reducing flood risks, enhancing water quality, and promoting sustainable urban living. The project serves as a model for cities worldwide to implement sustainable drainage solutions effectively.
