Current and Past Projects

Explore the various projects SuDSlab has undertaken to enhance urban environments through sustainable drainage solutions. Our projects showcase the innovative approaches we use to manage water runoff, improve urban resilience, and contribute to sustainable living.

Blue-Green Lab

The University of Hull uses Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) on its low-lying campus to monitor and manage surface water caused by rainfall. The scheme includes SuDS features, sewers, soil and groundwater and campus-wide weather data.

DIG

In Doncaster, Immingham and Grimsby there are numerous properties are at risk of flooding from surface water and the public sewer network. The DIG project is a partnership between North East Lincolnshire Council, City of Doncaster Council, Anglian Water and Yorkshire Water. Together we aim to use innovative sustainable drainage techniques to increase flood resilience and bring communities closer to nature.

Living With Water

A partnership between Yorkshire Water, Hull City Council, East Riding of Yorkshire Council, the Environment Agency and the University of Hull – all of which play a role in managing water in Hull and the East Riding.

West Wolds Slow the Flow

To use nature-based solutions to reduce flooding in our area, whilst achieving multiple benefits such as improvements to biodiversity, amenity and soil and water quality.

PuddleWatch

The PuddleWatch project attempts to investigate where and when puddles appear.

UNCW-UoH Water Data Partnership

The UNCW-UoH Water Data Partnership is a collaborative initiative between the University of North Carolina Wilmington and the University of Hull, focused on advancing water research and sustainable management through shared expertise and data-driven solutions.
